Skylights and rooflights across Wiltshire
SkylightCompany.uk covers the whole of Wiltshire — homes, extensions, schools and commercial roofs — with a free survey for new installations.
Western coasts take wind-driven rain, so we pay close attention to upstand height and flashing laps on exposed roofs.
Many South West towns mix Georgian and Victorian terraces with modern estates, so the right product differs street by street.

Planning and building rules in England
Most rooflights on English houses do not need planning permission, provided they keep within 150 mm of the roof surface and below the ridge line. Listed buildings need listed building consent, flats have no householder permitted development rights, and an Article 4 direction can remove the rights in some conservation areas.
Under Approved Document L, a rooflight added to an English home must achieve at least 2.2 W/m²K (horizontal plane), and a roof window 1.4 W/m²K or Window Energy Rating Band B. The Future Homes and Buildings Standards, published in March 2026, apply from 24 March 2027 and keep the 2.2 W/m²K limit for rooflights.

Common questions
Do you cover all of Wiltshire?
Yes. We survey and fit across Wiltshire, including Swindon, Salisbury and Trowbridge. Remote and island addresses are by arrangement.
Do I need planning permission for a rooflight in Wiltshire?
English householder permitted development (Class C) normally covers rooflights that stand no more than 0.15 m proud of the roof plane and stay below the highest part of the roof.
What guarantees do I get?
Products carry the manufacturer's own warranty, which we pass to you with the product data. Our workmanship terms are set out in the quote.
Do you take a deposit?
Nothing is paid until you accept a written quote. Made-to-measure products are ordered after you accept, we tell you in writing when the order is placed, and the quote states the payment stages.
Can I cancel?
Made-to-measure products are excluded from the statutory 14-day cancellation right, but you can cancel without charge until we place the order with the manufacturer. Our terms explain the rest.
