What is skylight installation?
Skylight installation is the full job: survey, specification, structural opening, upstand or flashing, fitting the unit, waterproofing and making good inside. We fit into new extensions, cut new openings in existing roofs and fit units you have already bought.
Most problems with rooflights come from installation, not products. Square openings, correct upstands, properly dressed membranes and sealed reveals are what make a rooflight last.
Every installation starts with a free survey for new installs and a fixed written quote before any work starts.

Skylight installation: common questions
Do you fit rooflights bought elsewhere?
Yes. We check the product and the opening first, and our workmanship terms cover the fitting rather than the product.
How long does installation take?
Fitting into a prepared upstand takes about a day. A new opening in an existing roof, including making good, often takes two to three days.
Do I need a structural engineer?
For new openings that cut joists or rafters, a structural check is sensible and building control may ask for calculations.
Who handles building control?
We tell you which route applies — building control approval, a building warrant in Scotland, or in England and Wales self-certification by a registered competent person — and supply the product data.
Do you work with builders?
Yes — on new extensions we fit to the builder's programme once the upstand or roof is ready.
Is the survey free?
Yes, for new installations. Repair visits are charged.
