A typical skylight installation runs: survey and fixed quote; order and lead time; forming or checking the opening; building and waterproofing the upstand or fitting the flashing; lifting and fixing the unit; sealing; then making good inside. Fitting day is usually one day into a prepared opening, or two to three days for a new opening in an existing roof.
What happens at the survey?
We measure the opening and roof build-up, check structure and access, and talk through glass, opening and blinds. You then get a fixed written quote.
How long is the lead time?
Manufacturers typically quote two to four weeks for standard units; bespoke, structural and motorised units take longer. Your quote states the lead time.
What happens on fitting day?
- Protect the room and set up safe access
- Form or check the opening and upstand
- Dress the membrane or fit the flashing
- Lift the unit into place and fix to the manufacturer's detail
- Seal, test any opening mechanism and clean down
- Make good the reveal inside
Will it be messy?
Cutting into an existing ceiling is dusty. We sheet and protect, but plan to clear the room below.
What paperwork will I get?
Product data, manufacturer warranty details and, where applicable, the building control or competent person certificate route.
