Bespoke & shaped rooflights for Brighton: the essentials
We handle bespoke & shaped rooflights across East Sussex, including Brighton. In short: triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Orangery-style extensions with lanterns are popular across the South East, and solar-control glass makes a big difference on south-facing gardens. In Brighton, as anywhere, bespoke & shaped rooflights are the usual choice for openings that standard sizes do not fit.
We cover all of Brighton and the BN1 district, and nearby Hove and Portslade.

Planning, building control and Brighton
Most rooflights on English houses do not need planning permission, provided they keep within 150 mm of the roof surface and below the ridge line. Listed buildings need listed building consent, flats have no householder permitted development rights, and an Article 4 direction can remove the rights in some conservation areas.
For English homes the energy rules ask for rooflights of 2.2 W/m²K or better and roof windows of 1.4 W/m²K (or WER Band B); most modern double glazed units meet both. In an extension, glazing including rooflights is normally limited to 25% of the new floor area plus any windows or doors the extension covers, unless a whole-house calculation shows otherwise.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Send your postcode and, if you can, a photo of the roof and the room. We offer a survey date when we reply.
Is the survey in Brighton free?
Yes for new installations. Repair visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we book.
