Bespoke & shaped rooflights for Kirkcaldy: the essentials
Our bespoke & shaped rooflights service in Kirkcaldy covers triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. Every job starts with a survey of the opening, the roof covering and the room below, and a fixed written price.
Scottish weather is hard on roofs, so we specify rooflights and roof windows with exposure in mind and fit upstands with generous heights. Think of bespoke & shaped rooflights for angled ceilings, corners and architect-designed extensions.
Kirkcaldy sits about 9 km from Glenrothes and 14 km from Leven, and we cover the whole KY1 postcode district and the roads in between.

Do you need permission in Kirkcaldy?
Scottish householder permitted development (Class 2B, other external alterations) can cover a rooflight that projects no more than 1 metre from the roof, but the right does not apply in conservation areas. Flats and tenements are outside householder permitted development, so check with the planning authority first.
Scotland's Technical Handbook (section 6) asks for windows, doors and rooflights in an extension to average 1.4–1.6 W/m²K, with no single unit worse than 3.3 W/m²K. Replacing a rooflight, frame included, does not need a building warrant, but the work must still meet the building standards.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Questions about bespoke & shaped rooflights in Kirkcaldy
Will a shaped rooflight leak more?
Not if detailed properly — corners and junctions just need more care.

Some can. Shaped glass is usually fixed, combined with a standard opening unit elsewhere.
Can any shape be made?
Most straight-edged shapes can be made in glass, within the manufacturer's size and angle limits. Curved glass is possible but specialist.
