Bespoke & shaped rooflights for Wimbledon: the essentials
Our bespoke & shaped rooflights service in Wimbledon covers triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. Every job starts with a survey of the opening, the roof covering and the room below, and a fixed written price.
Party walls are a fact of life in London terraces, and rooflights close to a shared wall need detailing that keeps the neighbour's side dry too. In Wimbledon, as anywhere, bespoke & shaped rooflights are the usual choice for angled ceilings, corners and architect-designed extensions.
From Wimbledon to Morden, Mitcham and Putney, the same survey-first process applies: measure, specify, fix the price, then fit.

Consents for bespoke & shaped rooflights in Wimbledon
Most rooflights on English houses do not need planning permission, provided they keep within 150 mm of the roof surface and below the ridge line. A rooflight on a side-facing slope must be obscure-glazed, and fixed shut unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
For English homes the energy rules ask for rooflights of 2.2 W/m²K or better and roof windows of 1.4 W/m²K (or WER Band B); most modern double glazed units meet both. In an extension, glazing including rooflights is normally limited to 25% of the new floor area plus any windows or doors the extension covers, unless a whole-house calculation shows otherwise.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Bespoke & shaped rooflights in Wimbledon: questions
Can bespoke units open?
Some can. Shaped glass is usually fixed, combined with a standard opening unit elsewhere.
Will a shaped rooflight leak more?
Not if detailed properly — corners and junctions just need more care.
Can any shape be made?
Most straight-edged shapes can be made in glass, within the manufacturer's size and angle limits. Curved glass is possible but specialist.
Can you work alongside my builder in Wimbledon?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
How do I book a survey in Wimbledon?
Send your postcode and, if you can, a photo of the roof and the room. We offer a survey date when we reply.
