Bespoke & shaped rooflights for Maesteg: the essentials
Our bespoke & shaped rooflights service in Maesteg covers triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. Every job starts with a survey of the opening, the roof covering and the room below, and a fixed written price.
Wales sees a lot of wind-driven rain, particularly in the west, so upstand height and flashing laps matter more than anywhere. Bespoke & shaped rooflights suit openings that standard sizes do not fit.
Jobs in Maesteg are planned around access: whether the roof can be reached from the garden, whether a hoist or crane is needed, and where we can park. We check this when we measure.

Planning and building rules for Maesteg
Planning rules in Wales are tighter than in England for rooflights: Class C rights do not apply in conservation areas, National Parks or AONBs, so a rooflight there needs planning permission. Listed buildings need listed building consent from the council, and flats have no householder permitted development rights.
Welsh Building Regulations expect new or replacement rooflights to reach 2.2 W/m²K and roof windows 1.4 W/m²K or a Band B rating. A revised Welsh Approved Document L takes effect on 4 March 2027; rooflights in new dwellings stay at 2.2 W/m²K.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Bespoke & shaped rooflights in Maesteg: questions
Why does bespoke take longer?
Each unit is drawn, checked and manufactured to order.
Do you need my architect's drawings?
They help. We still survey on site, because built openings rarely match drawings exactly.
Will a shaped rooflight leak more?
Not if detailed properly — corners and junctions just need more care.
Do you offer bespoke & shaped rooflights in Maesteg?
Yes. We carry out bespoke & shaped rooflights in Maesteg and across Mid Glamorgan. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
Will I need planning permission in Maesteg?
Welsh householder permitted development (Class C) allows rooflights that project no more than 15 cm and sit no higher than the existing roof — but not in conservation areas, National Parks, AONBs or World Heritage Sites.
