Bespoke & shaped rooflights in Tamworth: what is involved?
Bespoke & shaped rooflights in Tamworth means triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. We cover the B79 district and the rest of Staffordshire, with a survey before any price is fixed.
Bungalows are common across parts of the Midlands, and sun tunnels or roof windows are a quick way to brighten internal hallways. Bespoke & shaped rooflights suit openings that standard sizes do not fit.
Neighbouring towns include Lichfield (10 km) and Sutton Coldfield (11 km). We offer a survey date when we reply to your enquiry.

Do you need permission in Tamworth?
Most rooflights on English houses do not need planning permission, provided they keep within 150 mm of the roof surface and below the ridge line. A rooflight on a side-facing slope must be obscure-glazed, and fixed shut unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
Building Regulations Approved Document L sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new or replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured in the horizontal plane; roof windows need 1.4 W/m²K or a Band B energy rating. The Future Homes and Buildings Standards, published in March 2026, apply from 24 March 2027 and keep the 2.2 W/m²K limit for rooflights.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Common questions
Can bespoke units open?
Some can. Shaped glass is usually fixed, combined with a standard opening unit elsewhere.
Can I cancel a bespoke order?
Made-to-measure goods are excluded from the statutory 14-day cancellation right. As a goodwill gesture you can cancel without charge until we place the order with the manufacturer, and we tell you in writing when that happens.
Will a shaped rooflight leak more?
Not if detailed properly — corners and junctions just need more care.
Do I need to be at home for the survey in Tamworth?
Yes — someone needs to let us into the room below and, where possible, show us how the roof is reached.
Is the survey in Tamworth free?
Yes for new installations. Repair visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we book.
