How we approach bespoke & shaped rooflights in Lofthouse
Thinking about bespoke & shaped rooflights in Lofthouse? The short answer: triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. The longer answer depends on your roof, which is why we survey before we price.
Stone-built terraces are common across Yorkshire, and roof windows in the rear slope are a popular way to light attic rooms. In Lofthouse, as anywhere, bespoke & shaped rooflights are the usual choice for angled ceilings, corners and architect-designed extensions.
From Lofthouse to Wakefield, Morley and Ossett, the same survey-first process applies: measure, specify, fix the price, then fit.

Planning, building control and Lofthouse
In England a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development under Class C if it projects no more than 150 mm beyond the roof slope and sits no higher than the ridge. A rooflight on a side-facing slope must be obscure-glazed, and fixed shut unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
Under Approved Document L, a rooflight added to an English home must achieve at least 2.2 W/m²K (horizontal plane), and a roof window 1.4 W/m²K or Window Energy Rating Band B. Replacing a rooflight or roof window can be self-certified by an installer registered with an authorised competent person scheme; otherwise building control approval is needed.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Common questions
Can any shape be made?
Most straight-edged shapes can be made in glass, within the manufacturer's size and angle limits. Curved glass is possible but specialist.
Why does bespoke take longer?
Each unit is drawn, checked and manufactured to order.
Will a shaped rooflight leak more?
Not if detailed properly — corners and junctions just need more care.
Will I need planning permission in Lofthouse?
English householder permitted development (Class C) normally covers rooflights that stand no more than 0.15 m proud of the roof plane and stay below the highest part of the roof.
Can you work alongside my builder in Lofthouse?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
