Frameless structural rooflights in the Isle of Wight: the essentials
Across the Isle of Wight, our frameless structural rooflights work covers minimal glass rooflights with no visible frame from inside. Survey first, fixed price second, fitting third.
Larger gardens in much of the South East mean deeper rear extensions, and deeper rooms need light from above rather than only from the doors. Orangery-style extensions with lanterns are popular across the South East, and solar-control glass makes a big difference on south-facing gardens.

Planning and building rules in England
Most rooflights on English houses do not need planning permission, provided they keep within 150 mm of the roof surface and below the ridge line. Listed buildings need listed building consent, flats have no householder permitted development rights, and an Article 4 direction can remove the rights in some conservation areas.
Building Regulations Approved Document L sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new or replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured in the horizontal plane; roof windows need 1.4 W/m²K or a Band B energy rating. Replacing a rooflight or roof window can be self-certified by an installer registered with an authorised competent person scheme; otherwise building control approval is needed.
What do frameless structural rooflights cost in the Isle of Wight?
These are typical supply-and-fit ranges. For an address in the Isle of Wight, scaffold, a hoist for heavy glass, or a new structural opening can move the figure, which is why we survey first.

Common questions
Can a frameless rooflight be walked on?
Only if it is specified as a walk-on unit. Most frameless rooflights are for light only.
How is it lifted onto the roof?
Larger panes go up with a vacuum lifter, a hoist or a crane. We plan access at survey.
Can it open?
Some frameless designs include a sliding or hinged opening element, but most are fixed. Pair with an opening unit if you need ventilation.
Does it cost more?
Usually, because the glass is larger and heavier and the finish needs tighter tolerances. The price table shows typical ranges.
Do you fit frameless structural rooflights across the Isle of Wight?
