How we approach loft conversion skylights in Chichester
We handle loft conversion skylights across West Sussex, including Chichester. In short: roof windows planned for loft rooms — light, headroom and escape. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Many South East homes have been extended more than once, and an old dome over an earlier extension is often due for replacement. In Chichester, as anywhere, loft conversion skylights are the usual choice for attic bedrooms, offices and en-suites.
Chichester is around 52 km from Crawley, and we survey and fit throughout that part of West Sussex, including the PO19 district.

Do you need permission in Chichester?
English householder permitted development (Class C) normally covers rooflights that stand no more than 0.15 m proud of the roof plane and stay below the highest part of the roof. A rooflight on a side-facing slope must be obscure-glazed, and fixed shut unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
Under Approved Document L, a rooflight added to an English home must achieve at least 2.2 W/m²K (horizontal plane), and a roof window 1.4 W/m²K or Window Energy Rating Band B. The Future Homes and Buildings Standards, published in March 2026, apply from 24 March 2027 and keep the 2.2 W/m²K limit for rooflights.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Loft conversion skylights in Chichester: questions
Will the loft be cold near the windows?
Correctly fitted insulation collars and linings keep the window surround warm and reduce condensation.
Can you work alongside my loft builder?
Yes — we set out and fit the windows to the builder's programme.
How many roof windows does a loft room need?
Enough to give good light — a common rule of thumb is glazing equal to roughly a tenth to a fifth of the floor area, adjusted for orientation and use. We advise at survey.
Is the survey in Chichester free?
Yes for new installations. Repair visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we book.
How do I book a survey in Chichester?
Send your postcode and, if you can, a photo of the roof and the room. We offer a survey date when we reply.
