How we approach loft conversion skylights in Worcester
Our loft conversion skylights service in Worcester covers roof windows planned for loft rooms — light, headroom and escape. Every job starts with a survey of the opening, the roof covering and the room below, and a fixed written price.
Many Midlands semis have had a single-storey rear extension added, and a larger flat rooflight or lantern is often the change that makes it feel finished. Loft conversion skylights suit attic bedrooms, offices and en-suites.
Worcester is the main town we list in Worcestershire; we also cover nearby Droitwich and Great Malvern.

Do you need permission in Worcester?
Most rooflights on English houses do not need planning permission, provided they keep within 150 mm of the roof surface and below the ridge line. A rooflight on a side-facing slope must be obscure-glazed, and fixed shut unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
For English homes the energy rules ask for rooflights of 2.2 W/m²K or better and roof windows of 1.4 W/m²K (or WER Band B); most modern double glazed units meet both. In an extension, glazing including rooflights is normally limited to 25% of the new floor area plus any windows or doors the extension covers, unless a whole-house calculation shows otherwise.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Loft conversion skylights in Worcester: questions
Top-hung or centre-pivot in a loft?
Top-hung gives a clearer view and often suits escape use; centre-pivot is easier to clean and suits higher positions.
Do loft roof windows need to be escape windows?
Some loft rooms need an escape window, depending on the layout and the fire strategy for the conversion. Building control confirms the requirement.
How many roof windows does a loft room need?
Enough to give good light — a common rule of thumb is glazing equal to roughly a tenth to a fifth of the floor area, adjusted for orientation and use. We advise at survey.
Do you fit loft conversion skylights in Worcester?
Yes. We survey and fit loft conversion skylights in Worcester and across Worcestershire. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
Do I need to be at home for the survey in Worcester?
Yes — someone needs to let us into the room below and, where possible, show us how the roof is reached.
