Sun tunnels & tubular skylights for Cookstown: the essentials
Sun tunnels & tubular skylights in Cookstown means light pipes that bring daylight to halls and bathrooms with no window. We cover the BT80 district and the rest of County Tyrone, with a survey before any price is fixed.
Northern Ireland has a mix of terraces, bungalows and rural farmhouses, and rooflights are a common upgrade when extending. Think of sun tunnels & tubular skylights for small internal rooms where a full rooflight will not fit.
Cookstown is around 36 km from Omagh, and we survey and fit throughout that part of County Tyrone, including the BT80 district.
What you can choose
- Rigid (brighter) or flexible tubes
- Diffusers in several sizes
- Insulated tube sections
- Pitched or flat-roof flashings
- Ventilation adaptor
- Small ceiling opening, quick fit
- Daylight where no window is possible
Things we check at survey
- Light output falls with tube length and bends
- Tube runs need insulation in cold lofts to limit condensation
Planning and building rules for Cookstown
In Northern Ireland, roof alterations come under Class B of the 2015 order: a rooflight facing a road must not project more than 15 cm and must sit at least 0.5 m from the ridge, eaves, verge and party wall. A side-facing window within 15 m of a neighbouring boundary must be obscure-glazed, and non-opening unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
Northern Ireland's energy rules assess rooflight U-values in the vertical position — unlike England and Wales — and expect 1.6 W/m²K or Band C for replacements. Extensions follow a 25% glazing allowance in Technical Booklet F1.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.
