Bespoke & shaped rooflights for Aberystwyth: the essentials
We handle bespoke & shaped rooflights across Dyfed, including Aberystwyth. In short: triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Chapels, barns and farm buildings converted across Wales often need bespoke or conservation-style glass. Bespoke & shaped rooflights suit angled ceilings, corners and architect-designed extensions.
Jobs in Aberystwyth are planned around access: whether the roof can be reached from the garden, whether a hoist or crane is needed, and where we can park. We check this when we measure.
What you can choose
- Corner and wrap-around glazing
- Concealed or slim frames
- Triangular and trapezoid panes
- Sloped or monopitch rooflights
- Multi-pane butt-jointed runs
- Matching solar and thermal performance
- Drawing sign-off before order
Before you order: points to check
- Large panes need a lifting plan
- Precise survey and template may be needed
Planning and building rules for Aberystwyth
Planning rules in Wales are tighter than in England for rooflights: Class C rights do not apply in conservation areas, National Parks or AONBs, so a rooflight there needs planning permission. A side-facing rooflight within 10.5 m of the boundary must be obscure-glazed, and non-opening unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
Welsh Building Regulations expect new or replacement rooflights to reach 2.2 W/m²K and roof windows 1.4 W/m²K or a Band B rating. Wales also has its own overheating rules (Part O) for new homes, in force since November 2022.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Bespoke & shaped rooflights in Aberystwyth: questions
Can any shape be made?
Most straight-edged shapes can be made in glass, within the manufacturer's size and angle limits. Curved glass is possible but specialist.
Will a shaped rooflight leak more?
Not if detailed properly — corners and junctions just need more care.
Can bespoke units open?
Some can. Shaped glass is usually fixed, combined with a standard opening unit elsewhere.
Is the survey in Aberystwyth free?
Yes for new installations. Repair visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we book.
How do I book a survey in Aberystwyth?
Send your postcode and, if you can, a photo of the roof and the room. We offer a survey date when we reply.
