How we approach bespoke & shaped rooflights in Newtown
We handle bespoke & shaped rooflights across Powys, including Newtown. In short: triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Welsh planning rules exclude rooflights from permitted development in conservation areas and National Parks, so we check the designation before quoting. In Newtown, as anywhere, bespoke & shaped rooflights are the usual choice for openings that standard sizes do not fit.
We cover all of Newtown and the SY16 district, and nearby Welshpool and Llandrindod Wells.

Do you need permission in Newtown?
In Wales a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development if it stands no more than 15 cm proud of the roof, except on protected land such as conservation areas and National Parks, where permission is needed. Listed buildings need listed building consent from the council, and flats have no householder permitted development rights.
Approved Document L in Wales (2022 edition) sets 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights, measured horizontally, and 1.4 W/m²K or Band B for roof windows in existing homes. A revised Welsh Approved Document L takes effect on 4 March 2027; rooflights in new dwellings stay at 2.2 W/m²K.
