Bespoke & shaped rooflights in Monmouth: what is involved?
We handle bespoke & shaped rooflights across Gwent, including Monmouth. In short: triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Many Welsh homes have older single-storey rear extensions where a glass rooflight brightens a dark kitchen. In Monmouth, as anywhere, bespoke & shaped rooflights are the usual choice for openings that standard sizes do not fit.
Monmouth sits about 21 km from Abergavenny and 26 km from Pontypool, and we cover the whole NP25 postcode district and the roads in between.

- Concealed or slim frames

Before you order: points to check

Planning and building rules for Monmouth
Planning rules in Wales are tighter than in England for rooflights: Class C rights do not apply in conservation areas, National Parks or AONBs, so a rooflight there needs planning permission. A side-facing rooflight within 10.5 m of the boundary must be obscure-glazed, and non-opening unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
Approved Document L in Wales (2022 edition) sets 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights, measured horizontally, and 1.4 W/m²K or Band B for roof windows in existing homes. Wales also has its own overheating rules (Part O) for new homes, in force since November 2022.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Common questions
Can I cancel a bespoke order?
Made-to-measure goods are excluded from the statutory 14-day cancellation right. As a goodwill gesture you can cancel without charge until we place the order with the manufacturer, and we tell you in writing when that happens.
Will a shaped rooflight leak more?
Not if detailed properly — corners and junctions just need more care.
Do you need my architect's drawings?
They help. We still survey on site, because built openings rarely match drawings exactly.
Is the survey in Monmouth free?
Yes for new installations. Repair visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we book.
Can you work alongside my builder in Monmouth?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
