Bespoke & shaped rooflights for Motherwell: the essentials
Bespoke & shaped rooflights in Motherwell means triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. We cover the ML1 district and the rest of Lanarkshire, with a survey before any price is fixed.
Short winter days in Scotland make every square metre of overhead glass count, so rooflight sizing matters. In Motherwell, as anywhere, bespoke & shaped rooflights are the usual choice for angled ceilings, corners and architect-designed extensions.
Motherwell sits about 4 km from Hamilton and 5 km from Wishaw, and we cover the whole ML1 postcode district and the roads in between.

Planning, building control and Motherwell
Planning rules in Scotland differ: rooflights are treated as external alterations under Class 2B, with no permitted development in conservation areas. Flats and tenements are outside householder permitted development, so check with the planning authority first.
Scotland's Technical Handbook (section 6) asks for windows, doors and rooflights in an extension to average 1.4–1.6 W/m²K, with no single unit worse than 3.3 W/m²K. Forming a new opening normally involves structural work, so check with the local authority verifier whether a building warrant is needed.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.
