How we approach bespoke & shaped rooflights in Merthyr Tydfil
We handle bespoke & shaped rooflights across Mid Glamorgan, including Merthyr Tydfil. In short: triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Welsh planning rules exclude rooflights from permitted development in conservation areas and National Parks, so we check the designation before quoting. Think of bespoke & shaped rooflights for angled ceilings, corners and architect-designed extensions.
Jobs in Merthyr Tydfil are planned around access: whether the roof can be reached from the garden, whether a hoist or crane is needed, and where we can park. We check this when we measure.

Consents for bespoke & shaped rooflights in Merthyr Tydfil
In Wales a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development if it stands no more than 15 cm proud of the roof, except on protected land such as conservation areas and National Parks, where permission is needed. Listed buildings need listed building consent from the council, and flats have no householder permitted development rights.
Welsh Building Regulations expect new or replacement rooflights to reach 2.2 W/m²K and roof windows 1.4 W/m²K or a Band B rating. A revised Welsh Approved Document L takes effect on 4 March 2027; rooflights in new dwellings stay at 2.2 W/m²K.

Questions about bespoke & shaped rooflights in Merthyr Tydfil
Can any shape be made?
Most straight-edged shapes can be made in glass, within the manufacturer's size and angle limits. Curved glass is possible but specialist.
Why does bespoke take longer?
Each unit is drawn, checked and manufactured to order.
Can I cancel a bespoke order?
Made-to-measure goods are excluded from the statutory 14-day cancellation right. As a goodwill gesture you can cancel without charge until we place the order with the manufacturer, and we tell you in writing when that happens.
Will I need planning permission in Merthyr Tydfil?
Planning rules in Wales are tighter than in England for rooflights: Class C rights do not apply in conservation areas, National Parks or AONBs, so a rooflight there needs planning permission.
How do I book a survey in Merthyr Tydfil?
Send your postcode and, if you can, a photo of the roof and the room. We offer a survey date when we reply.
