What do dome rooflights in Chesham involve?
For Chesham homes and buildings we offer dome rooflights: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. We measure first, specify to the opening and confirm any planning or building-control points before quoting.
Larger gardens in much of the South East mean deeper rear extensions, and deeper rooms need light from above rather than only from the doors. Typical uses for dome rooflights include schools, flats and commercial flat roofs.
From Chesham to Amersham, Berkhamsted and Chalfont St Peter, the same survey-first process applies: measure, specify, fix the price, then fit.

Building control and safety duties in Chesham
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. Product data for building control is supplied with every quote.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fragile-roof safety and access are planned before work starts.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.
What do dome rooflights cost in Chesham?
These are typical supply-and-fit ranges. For an address in Chesham, scaffold, a hoist for heavy glass, or a new structural opening can move the figure, which is why we survey first.

Common questions
Can domes open?
Hinged and vented domes are available, manual or electric.
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Are domes safe to walk on?
No. Treat any rooflight as fragile unless it is specifically certified non-fragile, and never stand on it.
Do I need to be at home for the survey in Chesham?
Yes — someone needs to let us into the room below and, where possible, show us how the roof is reached.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Chesham?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Chesham and across Buckinghamshire. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
