What do dome rooflights in Croydon involve?
Dome rooflights in Croydon means polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. We cover the CR0 district and the rest of Greater London, with a survey before any price is fixed.
Party walls are a fact of life in London terraces, and rooflights close to a shared wall need detailing that keeps the neighbour's side dry too. In Croydon, as anywhere, dome rooflights are the usual choice for older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
We work across Greater London, including Croydon, and in neighbouring towns such as South Croydon and Wallington. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.

Regulations for dome rooflights in Croydon
On commercial roofs the main questions are usually building control, fire classification of rooflight materials and safe access rather than householder permitted development. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fragile-roof safety and access are planned before work starts.

Common questions
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Can domes open?
Hinged and vented domes are available, manual or electric.
Are domes safe to walk on?
No. Treat any rooflight as fragile unless it is specifically certified non-fragile, and never stand on it.
Do I need to be at home for the survey in Croydon?
Yes — someone needs to let us into the room below and, where possible, show us how the roof is reached.
Can you work alongside my builder in Croydon?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
