Dome rooflights in Finchley: what is involved?
We handle dome rooflights across Greater London, including Finchley. In short: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Party walls are a fact of life in London terraces, and rooflights close to a shared wall need detailing that keeps the neighbour's side dry too. Dome rooflights suit older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
We work across Greater London, including Finchley, and in neighbouring towns such as Muswell Hill and Highgate. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.
Choices for your Finchley project
- Fixed or hinged with vent
- Clear, opal or tinted
- Twin, triple or quad skin
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Light, impact-resistant domes
- Fixed, hinged or vented options
Things we check at survey
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
- Old domes may be fragile — treat as fragile until checked
Regulations for dome rooflights in Finchley
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.
