What do dome rooflights in Hayes involve?
We handle dome rooflights across Greater London, including Hayes. In short: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Party walls are a fact of life in London terraces, and rooflights close to a shared wall need detailing that keeps the neighbour's side dry too. Typical uses for dome rooflights include older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
From Hayes to Southall, Greenford and Northolt, the same survey-first process applies: measure, specify, fix the price, then fit.
Options we can specify in Hayes
- Twin, triple or quad skin
- Clear, opal or tinted
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Fixed or hinged with vent
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Suits schools, flats and commercial roofs
- Fixed, hinged or vented options
What to check first
- Old domes may be fragile — treat as fragile until checked
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
Rules and responsibilities in Hayes
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. Product data for building control is supplied with every quote.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Questions about dome rooflights in Hayes
Can you replace just the dome?
Yes, if the upstand is sound and the size matches. Otherwise we replace both.
Can domes open?
Hinged and vented domes are available, manual or electric.
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Do I need to be at home for the survey in Hayes?
Yes — someone needs to let us into the room below and, where possible, show us how the roof is reached.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Hayes?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Hayes and across Greater London. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
