How we approach dome rooflights in Stretford
Our dome rooflights service in Stretford covers polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. Every job starts with a survey of the opening, the roof covering and the room below, and a fixed written price.
Converted mills and warehouses in the North West often have large rooflights or glass roofs that need specialist replacement. Typical uses for dome rooflights include older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
From Stretford to Urmston, Sale and Eccles, the same survey-first process applies: measure, specify, fix the price, then fit.
Options we can specify in Stretford
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Clear, opal or tinted
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Twin, triple or quad skin
- Light, impact-resistant domes
- Quick replacement on existing upstands
What to check first
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
- Fire classification matters on some roofs
Building control and safety duties in Stretford
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. Product data for building control is supplied with every quote.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Questions about dome rooflights in Stretford
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Can you replace just the dome?
Yes, if the upstand is sound and the size matches. Otherwise we replace both.
Why has my dome gone yellow?
UV breaks down older plastics over time. Modern domes have UV-protective layers, but all plastics age.
Do I need to be at home for the survey in Stretford?
Yes — someone needs to let us into the room below and, where possible, show us how the roof is reached.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Stretford?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Stretford and across Greater Manchester. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
