Dome rooflights in Blairgowrie: what is involved?
Thinking about dome rooflights in Blairgowrie? The short answer: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. The longer answer depends on your roof, which is why we survey before we price.
Stone villas, cottages and conservation areas across Scotland often call for conservation rooflights in slate roofs. In Blairgowrie, as anywhere, dome rooflights are the usual choice for schools, flats and commercial flat roofs.
Jobs in Blairgowrie are planned around access: whether the roof can be reached from the garden, whether a hoist or crane is needed, and where we can park. We check this when we measure.
What you can choose
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Clear, opal or tinted
- Fixed or hinged with vent
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Fixed, hinged or vented options
- Light, impact-resistant domes
What to check first
- Plastic domes have a lower acoustic and thermal performance than glass
- Old domes may be fragile — treat as fragile until checked
Regulations for dome rooflights in Blairgowrie
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For non-domestic buildings in Scotland, the non-domestic Technical Handbook (section 6) sets the energy standards for rooflights; we supply the manufacturer's data for the building warrant. Fragile-roof safety and access are planned before work starts.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Questions about dome rooflights in Blairgowrie
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Can domes open?
Hinged and vented domes are available, manual or electric.
Why has my dome gone yellow?
UV breaks down older plastics over time. Modern domes have UV-protective layers, but all plastics age.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Blairgowrie?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Blairgowrie and across Perth and Kinross. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
Can you work alongside my builder in Blairgowrie?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
