How we approach dome rooflights in Yeadon
Our dome rooflights service in Yeadon covers polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. Every job starts with a survey of the opening, the roof covering and the room below, and a fixed written price.
Conservation areas and stone villages across Yorkshire often call for conservation rooflights in slate or stone-slate roofs. In Yeadon, as anywhere, dome rooflights are the usual choice for older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
From Yeadon to Guiseley, Shipley and Pudsey, the same survey-first process applies: measure, specify, fix the price, then fit.
Specification options
- Clear, opal or tinted
- Twin, triple or quad skin
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Fixed, hinged or vented options
- Smoke-vent versions available
Things we check at survey
- Plastic domes have a lower acoustic and thermal performance than glass
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
Building control and safety duties in Yeadon
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fragile-roof safety and access are planned before work starts.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Questions about dome rooflights in Yeadon
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Are domes safe to walk on?
No. Treat any rooflight as fragile unless it is specifically certified non-fragile, and never stand on it.
Do domes leak?
Leaks are usually at the upstand seal or the membrane. Replacing the dome and resealing often fixes it.
