Loft conversion skylights in Eastbourne: what is involved?
For Eastbourne homes and buildings we offer loft conversion skylights: roof windows planned for loft rooms — light, headroom and escape. We measure first, specify to the opening and confirm any planning or building-control points before quoting.
Period cottages and conservation-area streets are common in the South East, so slim conservation rooflights are often the right choice. Typical uses for loft conversion skylights include attic bedrooms, offices and en-suites.
We work across East Sussex, including Eastbourne, and in neighbouring towns such as Hailsham and Seaford. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.

Do you need permission in Eastbourne?
In England a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development under Class C if it projects no more than 150 mm beyond the roof slope and sits no higher than the ridge. A rooflight on a side-facing slope must be obscure-glazed, and fixed shut unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
Building Regulations Approved Document L sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new or replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured in the horizontal plane; roof windows need 1.4 W/m²K or a Band B energy rating. The Future Homes and Buildings Standards, published in March 2026, apply from 24 March 2027 and keep the 2.2 W/m²K limit for rooflights.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.
