How we approach skylight installation in Gorseinon
Skylight installation in Gorseinon means survey, supply and fit — new openings, extensions and fit-only work. We cover the SA4 district and the rest of West Glamorgan, with a survey before any price is fixed.
Many Welsh homes have older single-storey rear extensions where a glass rooflight brightens a dark kitchen. Think of skylight installation for builders' projects and retrofits into finished roofs.
From Gorseinon to Llanelli, Swansea and Ammanford, the same survey-first process applies: measure, specify, fix the price, then fit.

Consents for skylight installation in Gorseinon
In Wales a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development if it stands no more than 15 cm proud of the roof, except on protected land such as conservation areas and National Parks, where permission is needed. Listed buildings need listed building consent from the council, and flats have no householder permitted development rights.
Approved Document L in Wales (2022 edition) sets 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights, measured horizontally, and 1.4 W/m²K or Band B for roof windows in existing homes. Wales also has its own overheating rules (Part O) for new homes, in force since November 2022.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.
