Skylight replacement for Fleetwood: the essentials
Our skylight replacement service in Fleetwood covers replacing tired domes and failed glass with a modern rooflight. Every job starts with a survey of the opening, the roof covering and the room below, and a fixed written price.
Exposed hillside towns in the North West need flashing and seal details that cope with wind-driven rain. Skylight replacement suits yellowed domes, misted glass and leaking roof windows.
We work across Lancashire, including Fleetwood, and in neighbouring towns such as Thornton-Cleveleys and Blackpool. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.

Consents for skylight replacement in Fleetwood
In England a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development under Class C if it projects no more than 150 mm beyond the roof slope and sits no higher than the ridge. Listed buildings need listed building consent, flats have no householder permitted development rights, and an Article 4 direction can remove the rights in some conservation areas.
Building Regulations Approved Document L sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new or replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured in the horizontal plane; roof windows need 1.4 W/m²K or a Band B energy rating. In an extension, glazing including rooflights is normally limited to 25% of the new floor area plus any windows or doors the extension covers, unless a whole-house calculation shows otherwise.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

More we do in Fleetwood
Skylight replacement in Fleetwood: questions
Will it mess up my ceiling?
We protect the room and make good the reveal. Minor decoration may be needed afterwards.
Can I go bigger when replacing?
Possibly. Enlarging the opening means trimming joists, so we check the structure first.
How long does a replacement take?
Usually a day for a standard rooflight on a sound upstand.
Can you work alongside my builder in Fleetwood?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
How do I book a survey in Fleetwood?
Send your postcode and, if you can, a photo of the roof and the room. We offer a survey date when we reply.
