Skylights and rooflights across Devon
We survey, supply and fit skylights and rooflights across Devon, including Plymouth, Exeter and Paignton.
Holiday lets and second homes across the South West often want roof windows with blinds and remote opening for when the house is empty.
Stone cottages, slate roofs and conservation areas are common in the South West, and conservation-profile rooflights keep the roofline quiet.

Planning and building rules in England
English householder permitted development (Class C) normally covers rooflights that stand no more than 0.15 m proud of the roof plane and stay below the highest part of the roof. A rooflight on a side-facing slope must be obscure-glazed, and fixed shut unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
For English homes the energy rules ask for rooflights of 2.2 W/m²K or better and roof windows of 1.4 W/m²K (or WER Band B); most modern double glazed units meet both. The Future Homes and Buildings Standards, published in March 2026, apply from 24 March 2027 and keep the 2.2 W/m²K limit for rooflights.

Common questions
Do you cover all of Devon?
Yes. We survey and fit across Devon, including Plymouth, Exeter and Paignton. Remote and island addresses are by arrangement.
Do I need planning permission for a rooflight in Devon?
Most rooflights on English houses do not need planning permission, provided they keep within 150 mm of the roof surface and below the ridge line.
Do you take a deposit?
Nothing is paid until you accept a written quote. Made-to-measure products are ordered after you accept, we tell you in writing when the order is placed, and the quote states the payment stages.
Is the survey free?
Yes, for new installations. Repair and maintenance visits are charged, and we tell you the visit price first.
Can a skylight be fitted into an existing flat roof?
Yes. We form the opening, trim joists, build an insulated upstand, re-waterproof and make good the ceiling.
