What do bespoke & shaped rooflights in Castlereagh involve?
We handle bespoke & shaped rooflights across County Down, including Castlereagh. In short: triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Northern Ireland has a mix of terraces, bungalows and rural farmhouses, and rooflights are a common upgrade when extending. Typical uses for bespoke & shaped rooflights include openings that standard sizes do not fit.
Castlereagh is around 17 km from Bangor, County Down, and we survey and fit throughout that part of County Down, including the BT5 district.

Do you need permission in Castlereagh?
Northern Ireland's householder permitted development allows rooflights within limits — no more than 15 cm projection on road-facing slopes and a 0.5 m margin from ridge, eaves and party walls. Listed buildings also need listed building consent from the council.
Northern Ireland's energy rules assess rooflight U-values in the vertical position — unlike England and Wales — and expect 1.6 W/m²K or Band C for replacements. Extensions follow a 25% glazing allowance in Technical Booklet F1.

Common questions
Can any shape be made?
Most straight-edged shapes can be made in glass, within the manufacturer's size and angle limits. Curved glass is possible but specialist.
Will a shaped rooflight leak more?
Not if detailed properly — corners and junctions just need more care.
Can I cancel a bespoke order?
Made-to-measure goods are excluded from the statutory 14-day cancellation right. As a goodwill gesture you can cancel without charge until we place the order with the manufacturer, and we tell you in writing when that happens.
Is the survey in Castlereagh free?
Yes for new installations. Repair visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we book.
Do I need to be at home for the survey in Castlereagh?
Yes — someone needs to let us into the room below and, where possible, show us how the roof is reached.
