How we approach bespoke & shaped rooflights in Strabane
We handle bespoke & shaped rooflights across County Tyrone, including Strabane. In short: triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Wind and rain off the Atlantic make upstand and flashing details important on Northern Irish roofs. Bespoke & shaped rooflights suit angled ceilings, corners and architect-designed extensions.
Jobs in Strabane are planned around access: whether the roof can be reached from the garden, whether a hoist or crane is needed, and where we can park. We check this when we measure.
What you can choose
- Sloped or monopitch rooflights
- Triangular and trapezoid panes
- Concealed or slim frames
- Solar-control and low-iron glass
- Multi-pane butt-jointed runs
- Glass shaped to the architecture
- Matching solar and thermal performance
Things we check at survey
- Large panes need a lifting plan
- Longer lead times and no returns on made-to-measure glass
Planning and building rules for Strabane
Most rooflights on houses in Northern Ireland are permitted development under Class B, but not in a conservation area or on a listed building's curtilage. A side-facing window within 15 m of a neighbouring boundary must be obscure-glazed, and non-opening unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
For homes in Northern Ireland, Technical Booklet F1 sets 1.6 W/m²K (or WER Band C) for replacement glazing including rooflights. Extensions follow a 25% glazing allowance in Technical Booklet F1.
