What do bespoke & shaped rooflights in Ystradgynlais involve?
We handle bespoke & shaped rooflights across Powys, including Ystradgynlais. In short: triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Slate roofs, stone cottages and terraced valleys are typical across Wales, and slim rooflights that sit low in the slates suit them best. In Ystradgynlais, as anywhere, bespoke & shaped rooflights are the usual choice for openings that standard sizes do not fit.
We work across Powys, including Ystradgynlais, and in neighbouring towns such as Pontardawe and Neath. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.

Planning and building rules for Ystradgynlais
In Wales a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development if it stands no more than 15 cm proud of the roof, except on protected land such as conservation areas and National Parks, where permission is needed. A side-facing rooflight within 10.5 m of the boundary must be obscure-glazed, and non-opening unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
Approved Document L in Wales (2022 edition) sets 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights, measured horizontally, and 1.4 W/m²K or Band B for roof windows in existing homes. Wales also has its own overheating rules (Part O) for new homes, in force since November 2022.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Why does bespoke take longer?

Can you work alongside my builder in Ystradgynlais?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
Do you offer bespoke & shaped rooflights in Ystradgynlais?
