How we approach bespoke & shaped rooflights in Coventry
Bespoke & shaped rooflights in Coventry means triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. We cover the CV1 district and the rest of the West Midlands, with a survey before any price is fixed.
Midlands housing is a mix of Victorian terraces, inter-war semis and newer estates, and rear kitchen extensions with flat rooflights are a common upgrade. Typical uses for bespoke & shaped rooflights include openings that standard sizes do not fit.
Neighbouring towns include Kenilworth (8 km) and Bedworth (9 km). We offer a survey date when we reply to your enquiry.

Planning and building rules for Coventry
In England a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development under Class C if it projects no more than 150 mm beyond the roof slope and sits no higher than the ridge. A rooflight on a side-facing slope must be obscure-glazed, and fixed shut unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
Building Regulations Approved Document L sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new or replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured in the horizontal plane; roof windows need 1.4 W/m²K or a Band B energy rating. In an extension, glazing including rooflights is normally limited to 25% of the new floor area plus any windows or doors the extension covers, unless a whole-house calculation shows otherwise.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Common questions
Can I cancel a bespoke order?
Made-to-measure goods are excluded from the statutory 14-day cancellation right. As a goodwill gesture you can cancel without charge until we place the order with the manufacturer, and we tell you in writing when that happens.
Why does bespoke take longer?
Each unit is drawn, checked and manufactured to order.
Can any shape be made?
Most straight-edged shapes can be made in glass, within the manufacturer's size and angle limits. Curved glass is possible but specialist.
Will I need planning permission in Coventry?
English householder permitted development (Class C) normally covers rooflights that stand no more than 0.15 m proud of the roof plane and stay below the highest part of the roof.
