Dome rooflights for Wokingham: the essentials
We handle dome rooflights across Berkshire, including Wokingham. In short: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Larger gardens in much of the South East mean deeper rear extensions, and deeper rooms need light from above rather than only from the doors. Dome rooflights suit older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
From Wokingham to Crowthorne, Bracknell and Earley, the same survey-first process applies: measure, specify, fix the price, then fit.
Choices for your Wokingham project
- Fixed or hinged with vent
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Twin, triple or quad skin
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Clear, opal or tinted
- Quick replacement on existing upstands
- Light, impact-resistant domes
Before you order: points to check
- Old domes may be fragile — treat as fragile until checked
- Plastic domes have a lower acoustic and thermal performance than glass
Regulations for dome rooflights in Wokingham
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. Product data for building control is supplied with every quote.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Questions about dome rooflights in Wokingham
Can domes open?
Hinged and vented domes are available, manual or electric.
Are domes safe to walk on?
No. Treat any rooflight as fragile unless it is specifically certified non-fragile, and never stand on it.
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Do I need to be at home for the survey in Wokingham?
Yes — someone needs to let us into the room below and, where possible, show us how the roof is reached.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Wokingham?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Wokingham and across Berkshire. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
