What do dome rooflights in Wisbech involve?
We handle dome rooflights across Cambridgeshire, including Wisbech. In short: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
In the East of England, bungalows and chalet bungalows with large flat-roofed extensions are common, and they often suit a long run of rooflights. In Wisbech, as anywhere, dome rooflights are the usual choice for older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
Jobs in Wisbech are planned around access: whether the roof can be reached from the garden, whether a hoist or crane is needed, and where we can park. We check this when we measure.
Options we can specify in Wisbech
- Twin, triple or quad skin
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Clear, opal or tinted
- Quick replacement on existing upstands
- Smoke-vent versions available
What to check first
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
- Fire classification matters on some roofs
Regulations for dome rooflights in Wisbech
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fragile-roof safety and access are planned before work starts.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Common questions
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Are domes safe to walk on?
No. Treat any rooflight as fragile unless it is specifically certified non-fragile, and never stand on it.
Can you replace just the dome?
Yes, if the upstand is sound and the size matches. Otherwise we replace both.
Can you work alongside my builder in Wisbech?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Wisbech?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Wisbech and across Cambridgeshire. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
