Dome rooflights for Macclesfield: the essentials
We handle dome rooflights across Cheshire, including Macclesfield. In short: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
The North West gets more rain than most of England, so upstand height, membrane detailing and rain sensors on opening units are not optional extras. Typical uses for dome rooflights include older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
We work across Cheshire, including Macclesfield, and in neighbouring towns such as Wilmslow and Congleton. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.
Choices for your Macclesfield project

Things we check at survey
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
- Fire classification matters on some roofs
Regulations for dome rooflights in Macclesfield
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. Product data for building control is supplied with every quote.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Questions about dome rooflights in Macclesfield
Do domes leak?
Leaks are usually at the upstand seal or the membrane. Replacing the dome and resealing often fixes it.
Why has my dome gone yellow?
UV breaks down older plastics over time. Modern domes have UV-protective layers, but all plastics age.
Can you replace just the dome?
Yes, if the upstand is sound and the size matches. Otherwise we replace both.
Do I need to be at home for the survey in Macclesfield?
Yes — someone needs to let us into the room below and, where possible, show us how the roof is reached.
How do I book a survey in Macclesfield?
Send your postcode and, if you can, a photo of the roof and the room. We offer a survey date when we reply.
