How we approach dome rooflights in Paignton
For Paignton homes and buildings we offer dome rooflights: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. We measure first, specify to the opening and confirm any planning or building-control points before quoting.
Holiday lets and second homes across the South West often want roof windows with blinds and remote opening for when the house is empty. Dome rooflights suit schools, flats and commercial flat roofs.
Paignton sits about 4 km from Torquay and 11 km from Newton Abbot, and we cover the whole TQ3 postcode district and the roads in between.
What you can choose
- Twin, triple or quad skin
- Fixed or hinged with vent
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Low cost per unit
- Light, impact-resistant domes
Before you order: points to check
- Plastic domes have a lower acoustic and thermal performance than glass
- Old domes may be fragile — treat as fragile until checked
Building control and safety duties in Paignton
On commercial roofs the main questions are usually building control, fire classification of rooflight materials and safe access rather than householder permitted development. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fragile-roof safety and access are planned before work starts.
Our planning guide covers each nation in more detail.

Dome rooflights in Paignton: questions
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Are domes safe to walk on?
No. Treat any rooflight as fragile unless it is specifically certified non-fragile, and never stand on it.
Can domes open?
Hinged and vented domes are available, manual or electric.
Can you work alongside my builder in Paignton?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Paignton?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Paignton and across Devon. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
