What do dome rooflights in Chelmsford involve?
Dome rooflights in Chelmsford means polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. We cover the CM1 district and the rest of Essex, with a survey before any price is fixed.
Barn conversions and timber-framed homes across the East often call for conservation rooflights or bespoke glass. Typical uses for dome rooflights include older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
From Chelmsford to Billericay, Witham and Maldon, the same survey-first process applies: measure, specify, fix the price, then fit.

Regulations for dome rooflights in Chelmsford
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fragile-roof safety and access are planned before work starts.
Our planning guide covers each nation in more detail.

Dome rooflights in Chelmsford: questions
Can domes open?
Hinged and vented domes are available, manual or electric.
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Are domes safe to walk on?
No. Treat any rooflight as fragile unless it is specifically certified non-fragile, and never stand on it.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Chelmsford?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Chelmsford and across Essex. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
How do I book a survey in Chelmsford?
Send your postcode and, if you can, a photo of the roof and the room. We offer a survey date when we reply.
