Dome rooflights for Porthmadog: the essentials
For Porthmadog homes and buildings we offer dome rooflights: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. We measure first, specify to the opening and confirm any planning or building-control points before quoting.
Slate roofs, stone cottages and terraced valleys are typical across Wales, and slim rooflights that sit low in the slates suit them best. Dome rooflights suit schools, flats and commercial flat roofs.
From Porthmadog to Pwllheli, Caernarfon and Dolgellau, the same survey-first process applies: measure, specify, fix the price, then fit.

Things we check at survey

Rules and responsibilities in Porthmadog
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. Product data for building control is supplied with every quote.
For non-domestic buildings in Wales, Approved Document L sets limiting U-values for rooflights and roof ventilators; we supply the manufacturer's data for the building control submission. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.

Questions about dome rooflights in Porthmadog
Are domes safe to walk on?
No. Treat any rooflight as fragile unless it is specifically certified non-fragile, and never stand on it.
Can you replace just the dome?
Yes, if the upstand is sound and the size matches. Otherwise we replace both.
Do domes leak?
Leaks are usually at the upstand seal or the membrane. Replacing the dome and resealing often fixes it.
Can you work alongside my builder in Porthmadog?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
How do I book a survey in Porthmadog?
Send your postcode and, if you can, a photo of the roof and the room. We offer a survey date when we reply.
