Dome rooflights for Bishop's Stortford: the essentials
Dome rooflights in Bishop's Stortford means polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. We cover the CM23 district and the rest of Hertfordshire, with a survey before any price is fixed.
Across the South East, single-storey kitchen extensions on 1930s semis and post-war detached houses are where most flat rooflights and lanterns go. Think of dome rooflights for older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
From Bishop's Stortford to Harlow, Hoddesdon and Hertford, the same survey-first process applies: measure, specify, fix the price, then fit.

Building control and safety duties in Bishop's Stortford
On commercial roofs the main questions are usually building control, fire classification of rooflight materials and safe access rather than householder permitted development. Product data for building control is supplied with every quote.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Dome rooflights in Bishop's Stortford: questions
Are domes safe to walk on?
No. Treat any rooflight as fragile unless it is specifically certified non-fragile, and never stand on it.
Can you replace just the dome?
Yes, if the upstand is sound and the size matches. Otherwise we replace both.
Why has my dome gone yellow?
UV breaks down older plastics over time. Modern domes have UV-protective layers, but all plastics age.
Can you work alongside my builder in Bishop's Stortford?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Bishop's Stortford?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Bishop's Stortford and across Hertfordshire. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
