What do dome rooflights in Rawtenstall involve?
We handle dome rooflights across Lancashire, including Rawtenstall. In short: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Rear kitchen extensions on North West semis often have small domes from decades ago that leak or have yellowed. Think of dome rooflights for schools, flats and commercial flat roofs.
Jobs in Rawtenstall are planned around access: whether the roof can be reached from the garden, whether a hoist or crane is needed, and where we can park. We check this when we measure.

Rules and responsibilities in Rawtenstall
On commercial roofs the main questions are usually building control, fire classification of rooflight materials and safe access rather than householder permitted development. Product data for building control is supplied with every quote.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Dome rooflights in Rawtenstall: questions
Can you replace just the dome?
Yes, if the upstand is sound and the size matches. Otherwise we replace both.
Can domes open?
Hinged and vented domes are available, manual or electric.
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
