What do dome rooflights in Hucknall involve?
Our dome rooflights service in Hucknall covers polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. Every job starts with a survey of the opening, the roof covering and the room below, and a fixed written price.
Many Midlands semis have had a single-storey rear extension added, and a larger flat rooflight or lantern is often the change that makes it feel finished. Dome rooflights suit schools, flats and commercial flat roofs.
We work across Nottinghamshire, including Hucknall, and in neighbouring towns such as Arnold and Kirkby in Ashfield. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.
Specification options
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Fixed or hinged with vent

What to check first
- Old domes may be fragile — treat as fragile until checked
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
Regulations for dome rooflights in Hucknall
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.
What do dome rooflights cost in Hucknall?
These are typical supply-and-fit ranges. For an address in Hucknall, scaffold, a hoist for heavy glass, or a new structural opening can move the figure, which is why we survey first.

Questions about dome rooflights in Hucknall
Can you replace just the dome?
Yes, if the upstand is sound and the size matches. Otherwise we replace both.
Can domes open?
Hinged and vented domes are available, manual or electric.
Why has my dome gone yellow?
UV breaks down older plastics over time. Modern domes have UV-protective layers, but all plastics age.
Can you work alongside my builder in Hucknall?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Hucknall?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Hucknall and across Nottinghamshire. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
