Dome rooflights for Clevedon: the essentials
Thinking about dome rooflights in Clevedon? The short answer: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. The longer answer depends on your roof, which is why we survey before we price.
Stone cottages, slate roofs and conservation areas are common in the South West, and conservation-profile rooflights keep the roofline quiet. Typical uses for dome rooflights include older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
We work across Somerset, including Clevedon, and in neighbouring towns such as Nailsea and Portishead. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.
Choices for your Clevedon project
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Clear, opal or tinted
- Twin, triple or quad skin
- Fixed or hinged with vent
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Fixed, hinged or vented options
- Smoke-vent versions available
Before you order: points to check
- Plastic domes have a lower acoustic and thermal performance than glass
- Fire classification matters on some roofs
Regulations for dome rooflights in Clevedon
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Questions about dome rooflights in Clevedon
Why has my dome gone yellow?
UV breaks down older plastics over time. Modern domes have UV-protective layers, but all plastics age.
Are domes safe to walk on?
No. Treat any rooflight as fragile unless it is specifically certified non-fragile, and never stand on it.
Can you replace just the dome?
Yes, if the upstand is sound and the size matches. Otherwise we replace both.
Can you work alongside my builder in Clevedon?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Clevedon?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Clevedon and across Somerset. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
