Dome rooflights for Egham: the essentials
For Egham homes and buildings we offer dome rooflights: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. We measure first, specify to the opening and confirm any planning or building-control points before quoting.
Across the South East, single-storey kitchen extensions on 1930s semis and post-war detached houses are where most flat rooflights and lanterns go. Dome rooflights suit older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
We work across Surrey, including Egham, and in neighbouring towns such as Staines and Ashford, Surrey. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.
Options we can specify in Egham
- Clear, opal or tinted
- Twin, triple or quad skin
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Low cost per unit
- Fixed, hinged or vented options
What to check first
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
- Fire classification matters on some roofs
Building control and safety duties in Egham
On commercial roofs the main questions are usually building control, fire classification of rooflight materials and safe access rather than householder permitted development. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Dome rooflights in Egham: questions
Can domes open?
Hinged and vented domes are available, manual or electric.
Why has my dome gone yellow?
UV breaks down older plastics over time. Modern domes have UV-protective layers, but all plastics age.
Are domes safe to walk on?
No. Treat any rooflight as fragile unless it is specifically certified non-fragile, and never stand on it.
