How we approach dome rooflights in Willenhall
Thinking about dome rooflights in Willenhall? The short answer: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. The longer answer depends on your roof, which is why we survey before we price.
Bungalows are common across parts of the Midlands, and sun tunnels or roof windows are a quick way to brighten internal hallways. In Willenhall, as anywhere, dome rooflights are the usual choice for older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
Willenhall sits about 2 km from Wednesfield and 4 km from Wolverhampton, and we cover the whole WV13 postcode district and the roads in between.
What you can choose
- Clear, opal or tinted
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Fixed or hinged with vent
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Smoke-vent versions available
- Suits schools, flats and commercial roofs
What to check first
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
- Old domes may be fragile — treat as fragile until checked
Rules and responsibilities in Willenhall
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Dome rooflights in Willenhall: questions
Are domes safe to walk on?
No. Treat any rooflight as fragile unless it is specifically certified non-fragile, and never stand on it.
Why has my dome gone yellow?
UV breaks down older plastics over time. Modern domes have UV-protective layers, but all plastics age.
Can domes open?
Hinged and vented domes are available, manual or electric.
