Loft conversion skylights in Cardigan: what is involved?
For Cardigan homes and buildings we offer loft conversion skylights: roof windows planned for loft rooms — light, headroom and escape. We measure first, specify to the opening and confirm any planning or building-control points before quoting.
Many Welsh homes have older single-storey rear extensions where a glass rooflight brightens a dark kitchen. Typical uses for loft conversion skylights include loft conversions and rooms in the roof.
Neighbouring towns include Carmarthen (35 km) and Haverfordwest (38 km). We offer a survey date when we reply to your enquiry.

Planning and building rules for Cardigan
Planning rules in Wales are tighter than in England for rooflights: Class C rights do not apply in conservation areas, National Parks or AONBs, so a rooflight there needs planning permission. A side-facing rooflight within 10.5 m of the boundary must be obscure-glazed, and non-opening unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
In Wales the limiting values are 2.2 W/m²K for a rooflight and 1.4 W/m²K (or WER Band B) for a roof window in an existing house. Wales also has its own overheating rules (Part O) for new homes, in force since November 2022.

Questions about loft conversion skylights in Cardigan
Will the loft be cold near the windows?
Correctly fitted insulation collars and linings keep the window surround warm and reduce condensation.
Do loft roof windows need to be escape windows?
Some loft rooms need an escape window, depending on the layout and the fire strategy for the conversion. Building control confirms the requirement.
Top-hung or centre-pivot in a loft?
Top-hung gives a clearer view and often suits escape use; centre-pivot is easier to clean and suits higher positions.
Do I need to be at home for the survey in Cardigan?
Yes — someone needs to let us into the room below and, where possible, show us how the roof is reached.
Can you work alongside my builder in Cardigan?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
