How we approach loft conversion skylights in Reigate
We handle loft conversion skylights across Surrey, including Reigate. In short: roof windows planned for loft rooms — light, headroom and escape. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Many South East homes have been extended more than once, and an old dome over an earlier extension is often due for replacement. Typical uses for loft conversion skylights include loft conversions and rooms in the roof.
We work across Surrey, including Reigate, and in neighbouring towns such as Redhill and Horley. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.

Planning, building control and Reigate
In England a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development under Class C if it projects no more than 150 mm beyond the roof slope and sits no higher than the ridge. A rooflight on a side-facing slope must be obscure-glazed, and fixed shut unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
Under Approved Document L, a rooflight added to an English home must achieve at least 2.2 W/m²K (horizontal plane), and a roof window 1.4 W/m²K or Window Energy Rating Band B. The Future Homes and Buildings Standards, published in March 2026, apply from 24 March 2027 and keep the 2.2 W/m²K limit for rooflights.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Loft conversion skylights in Reigate: questions
Do loft roof windows need to be escape windows?
Some loft rooms need an escape window, depending on the layout and the fire strategy for the conversion. Building control confirms the requirement.
Top-hung or centre-pivot in a loft?
Top-hung gives a clearer view and often suits escape use; centre-pivot is easier to clean and suits higher positions.
Will the loft be cold near the windows?
Correctly fitted insulation collars and linings keep the window surround warm and reduce condensation.
Is the survey in Reigate free?
Yes for new installations. Repair visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we book.
Can you work alongside my builder in Reigate?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
