Ridge & pitched glass roofs for Epsom: the essentials
For Epsom homes and buildings we offer ridge & pitched glass roofs: dual-pitch glazed roofs for side returns, links and long extensions. We measure first, specify to the opening and confirm any planning or building-control points before quoting.
Larger gardens in much of the South East mean deeper rear extensions, and deeper rooms need light from above rather than only from the doors. In Epsom, as anywhere, ridge & pitched glass roofs are the usual choice for terraced-house side returns that would otherwise be dark.
Jobs in Epsom are planned around access: whether the roof can be reached from the garden, whether a hoist or crane is needed, and where we can park. We check this when we measure.
What you can choose
- Aluminium systems in standard and RAL colours

Planning, building control and Epsom
In England a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development under Class C if it projects no more than 150 mm beyond the roof slope and sits no higher than the ridge. A rooflight on a side-facing slope must be obscure-glazed, and fixed shut unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
For English homes the energy rules ask for rooflights of 2.2 W/m²K or better and roof windows of 1.4 W/m²K (or WER Band B); most modern double glazed units meet both. The Future Homes and Buildings Standards, published in March 2026, apply from 24 March 2027 and keep the 2.2 W/m²K limit for rooflights.

Ridge & pitched glass roofs in Epsom: questions
Is a glass roof too hot for a kitchen?
Without care, it can be. Solar-control glass, an opening vent at the top and a blind make a south-facing glass roof comfortable.
Will it be noisy in the rain?
Glass is quieter than polycarbonate. Triple glazing or laminated glass reduces rain noise further.
How long does a ridge roof take to fit?
Typically two to four days once the walls and supports are ready, depending on length and access.
Is the survey in Epsom free?
Yes for new installations. Repair visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we book.
Can you work alongside my builder in Epsom?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
