Roof lanterns in Bletchley: what is involved?
Our roof lanterns service in Bletchley covers hipped glass lanterns that lift the ceiling of orangeries and extensions. Every job starts with a survey of the opening, the roof covering and the room below, and a fixed written price.
Across the South East, single-storey kitchen extensions on 1930s semis and post-war detached houses are where most flat rooflights and lanterns go. Think of roof lanterns for orangeries, kitchen-diners and single-storey extensions.
From Bletchley to Milton Keynes, Leighton Buzzard and Flitwick, the same survey-first process applies: measure, specify, fix the price, then fit.

Do you need permission in Bletchley?
English householder permitted development (Class C) normally covers rooflights that stand no more than 0.15 m proud of the roof plane and stay below the highest part of the roof. A rooflight on a side-facing slope must be obscure-glazed, and fixed shut unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
For English homes the energy rules ask for rooflights of 2.2 W/m²K or better and roof windows of 1.4 W/m²K (or WER Band B); most modern double glazed units meet both. In an extension, glazing including rooflights is normally limited to 25% of the new floor area plus any windows or doors the extension covers, unless a whole-house calculation shows otherwise.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Common questions
Roof lantern or flat rooflight?
A lantern adds height and sky from all sides; a flat rooflight is lower-profile and cleaner from outside. Our guide compares them in detail.
Aluminium or uPVC?
Aluminium gives slimmer bars and a longer life; uPVC costs less. We fit both.
Do roof lanterns get hot?
They can in summer if clear glass is used on a south-facing roof. Solar-control glass and an opening vent make a big difference.
Do you fit roof lanterns in Bletchley?
Yes. We survey and fit roof lanterns in Bletchley and across Buckinghamshire. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
Can you work alongside my builder in Bletchley?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
