Pitched roof windows in Strabane: what is involved?
Thinking about pitched roof windows in Strabane? The short answer: centre-pivot and top-hung skylights for tiled and slate roofs. The longer answer depends on your roof, which is why we survey before we price.
Wind and rain off the Atlantic make upstand and flashing details important on Northern Irish roofs. Pitched roof windows suit lofts, attic rooms, landings and vaulted ceilings.
We work across County Tyrone, including Strabane, and in neighbouring towns such as Derry/Londonderry and Omagh. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.

Planning and building rules for Strabane
Northern Ireland's householder permitted development allows rooflights within limits — no more than 15 cm projection on road-facing slopes and a 0.5 m margin from ridge, eaves and party walls. Listed buildings also need listed building consent from the council.
Technical Booklet F1 (2022) asks for replacement windows and rooflights in existing homes to reach WER Band C or a U-value of 1.6 W/m²K, assessed in the vertical position. Extensions follow a 25% glazing allowance in Technical Booklet F1.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Pitched roof windows in Strabane: questions
Centre-pivot or top-hung?
Centre-pivot windows are easy to clean and suit most rooms. Top-hung windows open out from the top for an unobstructed view and suit lower roof pitches near eye level.
Will it need building regulations approval?
Fitting a new roof window usually involves cutting rafters and changing the thermal envelope, so building control approval (or, in England and Wales, a competent-person route) is normally needed. We tell you which applies.
Can you replace an old roof window?
Yes — replacement into the same opening is usually quicker than a new install, often a few hours per window.
Do you fit pitched roof windows in Strabane?
Yes. We survey and fit pitched roof windows in Strabane and across County Tyrone. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
Can you work alongside my builder in Strabane?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
